    Windham® is the only cast company in the industry that uses a technique known as aluminum cast molding. All other major competitors use a process called sand molding to make there cast furniture. 

    Sand molding is a process of pouring melted aluminum into a mold that is stamped into sand. After pouring the melted aluminum into the sand it's allowed to cool into the desired shape. When completely cooled the aluminum shape is removed from the sand. This causes the some sand to be deposited on the casting and bits of aluminum left in the sand mold. These imperfections must now be filed to smooth out the frames

    Aluminum cast molding is performed by actually making an aluminum mold of the part to be cast. After the aluminum cools into the shape the aluminum is then pulled away from the mold without any aluminum pulling away. This is a much more expensive way to cast aluminum furniture but produces a smoother more stronger frame.
